The CNC Flame Cutting process includes preheating the material with the flame and an oxygen jet that dispenses pure oxygen into the preheated area. It’s not the heating flame itself that does the actual cutting but the oxygen jet, which burns the material during the heat formation. The CNC Flame Cutting process can be used for cutting a variety of materials and thickness, such as carbon steel, low alloy steels, and cast irons. The basic requirement of all materials is the oxide formed must have a lower melting point than the material to be cut. A great benefit to CNC Flame Cutting is the ability to cut very thick metals, and it’s portability. Due to no power supply, a minimal amount of tools required, it’s an excellent option for fieldwork. The quality of the final cut is excellent with a sharp top edge, flat cut surface, and a sharp slag- free lower edge.
